Pair of Late 18th Century Italian Antique Frescos in the Gothic Manner Depicting Angels

A delightful pair of late 18th-century Italian antique frescos, each depicting a head-and-shoulder portrait of an angel, in the Gothic manner. One plays a lute. The other holds a lily.

Each retains its original polychrome.

Provenance: Italian private collection - by repute removed from a derelict villa circa 1900.

Condition: Removed from a wall and applied to canvas. Each has been backed onto plywood during the late 20th Century. Surface craquelure is apparent on the surface of each fresco however, the plaster ground remains stable. A further condition report is available upon request.

Size: Each Height 41 cm (16") x Width 32 cm (12 1/2") x Depth 2.5 cm (1")
