Recently found in the attic of a Norfolk property.

A mid-17th Century English school antique oil on canvas depicting an aristocratic lady, circa 1660.

Depicted wearing her hair in ringlets, pearl necklace and a silk and lace dress, her left hand resting upon a column with fruit above.

The sitter and artist are unknown.

Presented in a period gilt-gesso frame of William Kent-type influence with traces of earlier black under-paint.

Provenance: Unknown

Condition: Relined historically and some evidence of retouching to the top left quartile and around the subject's left hand. The varnish has discoloured to the bottom right quartile. The portrait could do with a clean. A further condition report is available upon request.

Size: Including frame H 96.5 cm (38") x W 84 cm (33 1/8") / Excluding frame H 76 cm (30") x 63.5 cm (25")
